Philippines Flooding ~ 436 People Killed..

At least 436 people have been killed in widespread flooding in the southern Philippines, as tropical storm Washi raked across the region, the Philippine Red Cross said.
The Red Cross, told the Associated Press on Saturday that the death toll had reached 436 across three cities. He said thousands of people had sought shelter in evacuation centres in the area.

"We're counting about 20,000 families in the evacuation centres in several provinces," Gordon said.
Regional military spokesmen told reporters 97 bodies were recovered in Cagayan de Oro, a major port on Mindanao island, and 75 were found in Iligan, a nearby southern port, accounting for most of the deaths.

They said 375 people were still missing from the two cities alone.

Colonel Leopoldo Galon told reporters that army troops using trucks, boats, and helicopters had rescued at least 2,000 residents of Cagayan de Oro.

Separately, Lieutenant-Colonel Randolph Cabangbang said 15 people who had been swept to sea off Iligan had been rescued.

TOKYO, Dec. 14, Kyodo

The government is considering designating land with an annual radiation dose of 50 millisieverts or more around the crippled Fukushima Daiichi power plant as an area to which evacuees will not be able to return for a long period of time, sources close to the matter said Wednesday.

The designation will come when the government rezones the evacuation area into three categories after it decides, possibly Friday, that the Fukushima plant has achieved a stable state of a cold shutdown.

There are currently two types of evacuation zones -- namely the no-entry zone set in the 20-kilometer radius of the plant as well as areas outside the no-go zone where radiation exposure is feared to reach 20 millisieverts a year.

With all the corruption in India, how is/will Aadhaar be protected from compromise? What about UIDAI website, or the expected 60-to-90-day wait for Aadhaar processing. Those who opt not to take an Aadhaar, I'm sure will find life very inconvenient. As you've said: "clearly, a number of crucial questions need to be clarified before India can continue to crunch out the identity numbers."

Police in Pakistan today rescued more than 50 adults and children chained up in the basement of an Islamic religious school.
The students, some apparently as young as eight, danced with joy as they were freed.
The thick chains were attached to their ankles, and they told of months of physical abuse. "We were hung upside down and hit with sticks," one said. Others described being tortured with shocks from electric wires.
The raid on the Madrassa Zakarya in Karachi's central Sohrab Goth district was launched after officers heard of students being held in an "underground dungeon".
Two clerics were arrested but the head of the madrassa escaped, police said. The state governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad, ordered a search for him, saying: "Such heinous acts of human rights violations and torture in a civilised society will not be tolerated."
The arrested clerics reportedly claimed the pupils were chained because they were drug addicts the school was trying to rehabilitate.
Interior minister Rehman Malik said police were investigating whether the madrassa had links with fundamentalists, after a student said Taliban members had visited the school to lead prayers and tell them to prepare for battle.
Some Islamic schools in Pakistan are accused of training militants to fight in Afghanistan. Police said the school charged £70 a month for a religious education for boys, but parents, mostly from rural areas, were not allowed to visit.

Thousands of birds make crash landing in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Crews are cleaning up thousands of migratory birds that made a crash landing in southern Utah after apparently mistaking a Walmart parking lot and other areas as bodies of water.
Teresa Griffin of the Utah Department of Wildlife Resources tells the Spectrum ( http://bit.ly/rYpQbJ) that employees have been driving around the St. George area picking up the dead or injured birds. People are also dropping off birds at the department's office.
Officials say storm clouds above city lights Monday night probably confused thousands of grebes, which are a duck-like aquatic bird that migrates south for the winter. Thousands of the birds were killed, but more than 2,000 had been rescued by Tuesday evening.

Scotland Shut Down By Icy 165mph Blasts

A fierce storm with winds of up to 165 mph has battered northern parts of Britain, with people warned to stay indoors, schools forced to close and flights and rail links cancelled.

Localised flooding has also caused major disruptions on roads - and more than 30,000 homes have been left without power.
In North Yorkshire, a RAF helicopter plucked a couple to safety after their car was swept away in floodwaters near Aysgarth. They were flown to hospital with suspected hypothermia.
A third person was also rescued from his car in a separate incident near the village of Gunnerside.
Police have advised against all travel until at least 2am Friday, when winds are expected to ease.
The Met Office earlier issued its strongest warning - a red alert - for winds in Scotland and warned parts of England and Wales to "be aware", as temperatures were expected to drop and snowfall was predicted as far south as Birmingham.
It said the Highland observing station at Glen Ogle reported a gust of 104mph at 11am. The Met Office later tweeted that a gust at the Aonach Mor ski area peaked at 137mph...

If one can see it; there is a very powerful statement from our Lord in these prayers...

First we must acknowledge who He is, and must show a willingness to be taught by reading His word daily to gain knowledge of His will, to get wisdom and have understanding.

Trusting Him to lead us through the Holy Spirit moment by moment as we meditate, communicate and work. Putting the emphasis on what we (by faith) are to do without ceasing ... "pray and forgive" ...

So that this Spiritual condition which we seek, the heavenly kingdom life, now and eternally, depends on us being able to do all of the above while we live out our time on earth until He returns ... Help us Jesus!

Earthquake Causes River to Disappear in Costa Rica

Tuesday, residents around the Guacalito River in Costa Rica discovered that the river had disappeared. Earthquake-report.com reported that sometime after the series of moderate earthquakes, villagers living near the river, which is located near Armenia de Upala, discovered that the river was dry.
It was not immediately known if the waters of the river had disappeared due to sinkhole activity that can occur after earthquakes or if the earth shaking caused damming that dried up the river near the Miravalles volcano. The quakes were centered near the Nicaragua and Costa Rica border in the same vicinity as the Miravalles volcano.

An entire body of water disappears? Strange but true, and this isn't the first time this odd event has happened.

In 2010, the Iska River in Slovenia disappeared after local residents heard loud crashing and banging overnight. The next morning, the river was dry and the riverbed was full of fish and other creatures. It was believed that the waters of the river had drained through a large crack into an underground riverbed. This disappearance was not believed to have been related to an earthquake.
Most recently -- aside from the disappearing river in Costa Rica -- an entire reservoir in Huntsbury, New Zealand, that was filled with 36 million liters of water disappeared following a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. The reservoir water disappeared after the earthquake struck Christchurch Feb. 22.

"With radiation levels rising in the seawater near the plant, we have been trying to confirm the reason why, and in that context, this could be one source," said Hidehiko Nishiyama, deputy head of the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA), said on Saturday.

Japanese officials grappling on Sunday to end the world's worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl were focusing on a crack in a concrete pit that was leaking radiation into the ocean from a crippled reactor.

Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said it had found a crack in the pit at its No.2 reactor in Fukushima, generating readings 1,000 millisieverts of radiation per hour in the air inside the pit.

He cautioned, however: "We can't really say for certain until we've studied the results."

Leakage did not stop even after concrete was poured into the pit, and Tokyo Electric is now planning to use water-absorbent polymer to prevent contaminated water from leaking out into the sea.

Officials from the utility said checks of the other five reactors found no cracks. Operators of the plant are no closer to regaining control of damaged reactors, as fuel rods remain overheated and high levels of radiation are flowing into the sea.

Radiation 4,000 times the legal limit has been detected in seawater near the Daiichi plant and a floating tanker was to be towed to Fukushima to store contaminated seawater. But until the plant's internal cooling system is reconnected radiation will flow from the plant.

Ishinomaki Technical High School in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture Cleanup with help from U.S. military personnel

In a high school gymnasium carpeted with mud, a Japanese boy slipped and was helped to his feet by a member of the U.S. Navy, while close by a group of U.S. soldiers and local Japanese teachers mopped together in neat lines. The unique cooperation launched Wednesday at Ishinomaki Technical High School in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, was part of efforts to get the school back up and running prior to the start of the new academic year on Friday.

While all of the about 700 students at the school were confirmed safe after the devastating March 11 quake and ensuing tsunami, many of their parents and relatives as well as two recent graduates remain missing, according to the school.
''The school building was safe but we were having a difficult time cleaning up the school,'' said Hideki Oguro, its principal. ''The floors were filled with debris from collapsed walls and a muddy sludge but we didn't have water to clean it up.''
Mud was being removed from the first floor of the school so that it can hold an enrollment ceremony and start classes in mid-April.

''I'm grateful for everyone's help in the cleanup because I want to provide the students, some of whom have lost relatives or are still living in evacuation centers, with a place where they can feel safe,'' Oguro said.

The U.S. team members dispatched from U.S. bases inside and outside Japan are part of around 18,000 U.S. military personnel involved in the U.S. government's relief and humanitarian mission, named Operation Tomodachi, which means ''friend'' in Japanese.
The team was joined by around 120 local students, teachers and volunteers and members of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. The team is also scheduled to help remove mud and debris at about four other schools in the city.
''We feel for your loss and also for the tragedy that happened. In general, we've been very impressed with the spirit of the Japanese people,'' 1st Lt. Sean McMahon from Camp Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture said. ''We are very excited to help out to get people back on their feet.''
By the entrance of the classroom building where there were rows of shoeboxes, Maj. Chris Robertson from Honolulu was overseeing work by U.S. Marines to clear away the debris and mud.
''It's an honor to help,'' said Robertson, who has been working in the devastated areas in northeastern Japan for a week.
The damage from the disaster is ''heartbreaking,'' he said. ''It's very important to get back to a normal way of life.''

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) -- The 32nd anniversary of the partial meltdown at Three Mile Island was marked at the plant with prayers for vicims in Japan.

WGAL-TV reports about 30 people gathered early Monday outside the nuclear plant near Harrisburg for a vigil to remember the worst commercial nuclear power plant accident in U.S. history.

An equipment failure and operator errors led to partial core meltdown at the plant's Unit 2 reactor around 4 a.m. on March 28, 1979.

Those gathered outside the plant offered their prayers for tsunami-devastated Japan, especially people forced from their homes by the crisis at the Fukushima Dai-ichi (foo-koo-SHEE'-mah dy-EE'-chee) nuclear complex.

Three Mile Island spokesman Ralph DeSantis says the Unit 2 disaster has taught plant operators many valuable lessons.

Jiji Press reports that Kan has told a lower house budget committee meeting that the situation "continues to be unpredictable" and that the government "will tackle the problem while in a state of maximum alert," Jiji reported.

Workers have discovered new pools of radioactive water leaking from Japan's crippled nuclear plant that officials believe are behind soaring levels of radiation spreading to soil and seawater.
Crews also detected plutonium in the soil outside the complex, although officials insisted on Monday the finding posed no threat to public health.

Plutonium is present in the fuel at the complex, which has been leaking radiation for more than two weeks, so experts had expected to find traces once crews began searching for evidence of it this week.
The Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant was crippled on March 11 when a tsunami spawned by a powerful earthquake slammed into Japan's northeastern coast. The huge wave destroyed the power systems needed to cool the nuclear fuel rods in the complex, 220km northeast of Tokyo.
Since then, three of the complex's six reactors are believed to have partially melted down, and emergency crews have struggled with everything from malfunctioning pumps to dangerous spikes in radiation that have forced temporary evacuations.
Confusion at the plant has intensified fears that the nuclear crisis will continue for months or even years amid alarms over radiation making its way into produce, raw milk and even tap water as far away as Tokyo.

BEIJING CHINA - Abnormal high levels of radiation detected on a Japanese merchant vessel from Tokyo...

and two Japanese air travelers arriving in East China, two statements by China's quality watchdog said on Friday.

Two Japanese travelers who arrived in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province by air were found to have radiation levels "seriously exceeding limits" when they entered the country on Wednesday.

"Tests showed that the two travelers seriously exceeded the limit," the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said, referring to radiation levels.

The agency's statement said the two travellers were given medical treatment and presented no radiation risk to others.

The agency also said the radiation was found on the vessel Mol Presence when it arrived at Xiamen port in East China's Fujian province on Monday.
The ship belongs to Japanese transport company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and left Tokyo on March 17.
The statement did not give further information about the exact levels of radiation, the ship crew or cargo.

"America's Radiation Alert" Gaps in the network have been "Out Of Order" during Japan's nuclear crisis...

About 20 monitors out of 124 nationwide were out of service earlier this week, including units in Harlingen, Tex. and Buffalo, N.Y. on Friday, according to the EPA.
Gaps in the system - as well as the delays in fixing monitors in some of Southern California's most populated areas - have helped to prompt hearings and inquiries in Washington and Sacramento.

"Because the monitoring system ... plays such a critical role in protecting the health and safety of the American people, we will examine how well our current monitoring system has performed in the aftermath of the tragic situation in Japan," said Sen. Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat who chairs the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which plans a hearing in the coming weeks on nuclear safety.
California lawmakers have questioned the adequacy of the EPA monitoring, noting there are no sensors along the coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
"The question remains unanswered as to why we have gaps," said California Senate Majority Leader Ellen M. Corbett, (D-San Leandro), who chairs the state committee on earthquake and disaster preparedness "The radiation monitors that we do have in California must be properly checked and maintained."

Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear watchdog who lectures on nuclear policy at the University of California, Santa Cruz, said he was uneasy about malfunctioning monitors.

"The fundamental concern is that we're being offered bland assurances that everything is ok but much of the monitoring system was broken," Hirsch said.

One RadNet monitor in Fontana, Calif. stopped transmitting data in November, and regional air quality officials alerted EPA, said Philip Fine, an atmospheric measurements manager with Southern California Air Quality Management District. The repairs happened last weekend, when EPA made fixing California monitors a priority, he said.

In San Diego, an air district official who oversees one RadNet monitor, said they "babysit" the machine for the EPA and were unaware it had problems until agency officials showed up to fix it last weekend.
"We thought it was running," said Bob Kard, the air pollution control officer for the San Diego Air Pollution Control District.

Just how far the contamination has spread was still being investigated last night, although spinach grown 135 miles to the south at a vegetable research complex on the outskirts of Tokyo has been found to be coated with radioactive matter.

Damage to the containment cone, say analysts, could result in steam escaping from the reactor and carrying radiation into the air - and there could also be leakages into the soil around the crippled Fukushima plant.
If radiation of the highly dangerous quality found in water at the troubled number three reactor rises into the atmosphere, strong winds could carry the contamination as far as Tokyo, 135 miles to the south, and beyond.

All work at the plant has once again been suspended as officials try to establish the source of the high measure of radioactivity. Some 130,000 people have been encouraged to leave the area.
Pressed for more details about the dangers, spokesman Hidehiko Nishiyama said the cause of the radiation that resulted in the workers being contaminated by such a high reading remained unclear.

‘There is a strong possibility that some part of the reactor is now damaged and the containment function is weakening,’ said Mr Nishiyama.

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) -- About 8,500 people were ordered to leave their homes Thursday as the second major wildfire to erupt this week in an outlying Denver suburb blackened 2.5 square miles.

Officials ordered the evacuation of homes within a 4-mile radius of the fire near Franktown, about 35 miles southeast of Denver.

High winds quickly spread the fire through grasses, brush and trees dried out from months of below-normal moisture. Strong winds fueled several grass fires on the eastern plains, including one that charred 8 square miles 95 miles southeast of Denver and burned two wooden bridges and a barn.

The fire near Franktown started Thursday afternoon in a wooded area and grew to about 1,600 acres by late afternoon. Crews contained 70 percent of the fire by early evening, and all residents were allowed to go home Tuesday night with the warning to be ready to leave again if necessary.

Japan Disaster: Over 27,000 Dead or Missing Most are from Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima

The agency says it has received reports of 17,541 people missing. Most of the dead and missing are from the 3 hardest hit prefectures of Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima.

Figures appear almost certain to rise because of the absence of family members to report the dead and missing. In some areas, entire families appear to have perished in the tsunami that followed the magnitude 9.0 quake.

The number of confirmed deaths in Fukushima totals 839, far smaller than the more than 5,800 in Miyagi and about 3,000 in Iwate. This may be due to the suspension of search operations in areas within 20 kilometers of the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, because of radiation leaks.

Some survivors who have returned to their homes in areas where essential services have been restored are suffering from shortages of supplies, and are having to seek food at shelters for local residents.

Emergency shelters are accommodating more than 200,000 people, mostly from the prefectures of Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima, according to NHK figures. More than 30,000 people, mainly from Fukushima, have fled their hometowns to other prefectures.

The National Police Agency says at least 18,000 houses were destroyed by the quake and tsunami, and more than 130,000 homes were damaged.

Smoke was this morning seen rising from the Number 3 reactor at the stricken Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant.
Staff were evacuated from the area around the power plant and all work has been suspended after officials said the smoke was coming from an area where a core of spent nuclear fuel was being stored.
A joint task force set up between the government and the Tokyo Electric Company, which owns the site, was still trying to find a cause for the smoke.
There were no reports of any explosions.

It comes after Japanese authorities took a major step in managing the nuclear crisis after they managed to reconnect all six earthquake-damaged reactors to the power supply.
Power has been connected but not switched on to most of the coolers and pumps, many of which may have been badly damaged in the quake and tsunami that hit on March 11.

The damaged reactors and their spent fuel pools at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant urgently need cooling from air-conditioners and from water pumped in.
U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, asked whether the worst of Japan's 10-day nuclear crisis was over, said: 'Well, we believe so, but I don't want to make a blanket statement.'

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Gregory Jaczko added that radiation levels at the plant appeared to be falling.

But nuclear experts in the United States and elsewhere were not quite as positive.

'I am not sure if the crisis has passed but it is definitely a step in the right direction,' said Peter Hosemann, a professor at the University of California Berkeley's Nuclear Engineering Department.
'It is getting better. However, we don't know if the pipes and connections and pumps still work at this point or what works and what not.
'But having power makes external water supply easier.'

At Fukushima, 300 engineers have worked around the clock inside an evacuation zone to contain the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl in 1986.
The most badly damaged reactors are No. 3 and 4, which were both hit by explosions last week.
Japan's nuclear safety agency said pressure was rising in the most threatening reactor, No. 3, which contains highly toxic plutonium, and this may have to be released by 'venting' steam, a step taken last week that discharged low levels of radiation into the atmosphere.

Reactors 5 and 6 have not been much of a problem since a diesel pump was activated last week, cooling down both the reactors and their spent fuel ponds.
'Reactors 5 and 6, they are now in what's called cold shutdown, and the spent fuel cooling ponds are at normal temperatures,' said Tony Irwin, a former nuclear plant manager who now lectures at Australian National University.
'They are in the sort of situation now we would like to see 1, 2, 3 and 4 in.'

The other reactors are damaged but more or less stable, although the spent fuel cooling pond at reactor 4 is also a particular worry. The reactor's core was drained only last November and the radioactive spent fuel transferred to the pond.
'There was already spent fuel in there so there was quite a high load of spent fuel in that pond,' said Irwin. 'And that has been giving the main radiation effects on site.'
He said of the efforts at the plant: 'I think it's all going in a good direction, but we are not at a point where we can say we are totally happy.'

Engineers have been spraying the coastal complex with thousands of tonnes of sea water so fuel rods will not overheat and emit more radiation.
Najmedin Meshkati, a nuclear and environmental expert at the University of Southern California Los Angeles, said the measures were necessary but raised a fresh, and serious, concern.
'Where does the sea water drain?' he asked. 'This is now radioactive waste water. Has there been any measurement of its radiation effect?

'I am interested to know how this water is being disposed, if it is being disposed or just allowed to drain to sea. That is the hidden part of this catastrophe.'

that groundwater gauges used by the South Florida Water Management District recorded unusual activity about 30 minutes after the 9.0 tremor rumbled across northeastern Japan on March 11. The water level fluctuated about three inches over a two-hour period, according to the recordings.

The district announced the findings Saturday. "We were surprised that that signature showed up and for that length of time, as well," said Susan Sylvester, the district's director of operations control.

The ripples were recorded by gauges over a widespread area that included Everglades National Park, Palm Beach County, St. Lucie County and Highlands County.

The sensitive gauges are placed between 400 and 2,000 feet underground into the Floridan Aquifer. The water management district uses them to monitor regional water resources

Technicians saw similar fluctuations in the local groundwater following both the Haitian and Chilean earthquakes in 2010. They expected those readings because the quakes were closer to Florida, but the earthquake in Japan was farther away than anyone anticipated detecting.

Drinking Water And Food Shows Radioactive Iodine, Japanese Government Announced

A sample of tap water from the Japanese capital shows a tiny level of radioactive iodine after an earthquake and tsunami damaged a nuclear power plant 240 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo, the government said on Saturday.

The sample contained 1.5 becquerals per kg of iodine 131, well below the tolerable limit for food and drink of 300 becquerals per kg, the government added.

Jiji news agency said the presence of radioactive iodine in Tokyo tap water was rare.

Japan confirmed the presence of radioactive iodine contamination in food products from near a crippled nuclear plant and ordered a halt to the sale of such products from the area, the U.N. nuclear body said on Saturday.

"Though radioactive iodine has a short half-life of about 8 days and decays naturally within a matter of weeks, there is a short-term risk to human health if radioactive iodine in food is absorbed into the human body," the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a statement.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan (AP) -- In the first sign that contamination from Japan's stricken nuclear complex had seeped into the food chain, officials said Saturday that radiation levels in spinach and milk from farms near the tsunami-crippled facility exceeded government safety limits.

Experts said none of the tests showed any health risks.

Iodine levels in the spinach exceeded safety limits by three to seven times, a food safety official said. Tests on the milk done Wednesday detected small amounts of iodine-131 and cesium-137, the latter being a longer-lasting element that can cause more types of cancer. But only iodine was detected Thursday and Friday, a Health Ministry official said.

After the announcements, Japanese officials immediately tried to calm an already-jittery public, saying the amounts detected were so small that people would have to consume unimaginable amounts to endanger their health.

Low levels of radiation have been detected well beyond Tokyo, which is 140 miles (220 kilometers) south of the plant, but hazardous levels have been limited to the plant itself.

People evacuated from around the plant, along with some emergency workers, have tested positive for radiation exposure. Three firefighters needed to be decontaminated with showers, while among the 18 plant workers who tested positive, one absorbed about one-tenth of the amount that could induce radiation poisoning.

The failure of Fukushima's backup power systems, which were supposed to keep cooling systems going in the aftermath of the earthquake, let uranium fuel overheat and were a "main cause" of the crisis, Nishiyama said.

"I cannot say whether it was a human error, but we should examine the case closely," he told reporters.

A spokesman for Tokyo Electric said that while the generators were not directly exposed to the waves, some electrical support equipment was outside. The complex was protected against tsunamis of up to 5 meters (16 feet), he said. Media reports say the tsunami was at least 6 meters (20 feet) high when it struck Fukushima.

The crisis has led to power shortages and factory closures, and triggered a plunge in Japanese stock prices.

"It's very nerve-racking. We really don't know what is going to become of our city," said Junko Konno, 35. "Like most other people, we have been staying indoors unless we have to go out."

On Saturday evening, Japan was rattled by 6.1-magnitude aftershock, with an epicenter just south of the troubled nuclear plants. The temblor, centered 150 kilometers (90 miles) northeast of Tokyo, shook buildings in the capital.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan said Japan’s nuclear crisis remained “very grave” as forecasts indicated changing winds could start moving radiation closer to Tokyo by the end of the weekend.

By March 20, the weather may take emissions toward the capital, 135 miles (220 kilometers) south of the station, Austria’s meteorological center said, using data from the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organization. At current levels, the radiation isn’t dangerous beyond the immediate vicinity of the plant, the center said.

“On Sunday, a frontal system is crossing the region with heavy rain,” Austria’s Meteorological and Geophysics Center said in a statement. “Behind the front, northerly winds are predicted, increasing the risk for the region around Tokyo.”The greatest risks at Fukushima may still come from the spent fuel pools that sit on the top of the six reactors.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said March 17 there is a possibility of no water at the No. 4 reactor’s spent- fuel cooling pool. If exposed to air, the fuel rods could decay, catch fire and spew radioactive materials into the air.

The boss of the company behind the devastated Japanese nuclear reactor today broke down in tears - as his country finally acknowledged the radiation spewing from the over-heating reactors and fuel rods was enough to kill some citizens

Officials said the rating was raised after they realised the full extent of the radiation leaking from the plant. They also said that 3 per cent of the fuel in three of the reactors at the Fukushima plant had been severely damaged, suggesting those reactor cores have partially melted down.

After Tokyo Electric Power Company Managing Director Akio Komiri cried as he left a conference to brief journalists on the situation at Fukushima, a senior Japanese minister also admitted that the country was overwhelmed by the scale of the tsunami and nuclear crisis.

He said officials should have admitted earlier how serious the radiation leaks were.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said: 'The unprecedented scale of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, frankly speaking, were among many things that happened that had not been anticipated under our disaster management contingency plans.

'In hindsight, we could have moved a little quicker in assessing the situation and coordinating all that information and provided it faster.'

Nuclear experts have been saying for days that Japan was underplaying the crisis' severity.

It is now officially on a par with the Three Mile Island accident in Pennsylvania in 1979. Only the explosion at Chernobyl in 1986 has topped the scale.

Deputy director general of the NISA, Hideohiko Nishiyama, also admitted that they do not know if the reactors are coming under control.
He said: 'With the water-spraying operations, we are fighting a fire we cannot see. That fire is not spreading, but we cannot say yet that it is under control.'

But prime minister Naoto Kan insisted that his country would overcome the catastrophe

'We will rebuild Japan from scratch,' he said in a televised speech: 'In our history, this small island nation has made miraculous economic growth thanks to the efforts of all Japanese citizens. That is how Japan was built.'
It comes after pictures emerged showing overheating fuel rods exposed to the elements through a huge hole in the wall of a reactor building at the destroyed Fukushima nuclear plant.
Radiation is streaming into the atmosphere from the used uranium rods at reactor number four, after a 45ft-deep storage pool designed to keep them stable boiled dry in a fire.

And some of the radioactive material could reach Britain within a fortnight, according to experts.

The terrible toll of Japan's double disaster became clearer as it emerged as many as 25,000 people could be dead after Ishinomaki officials confirmed that 10,000 of their citizens were missing.

The wave hit the northeastern town as parents came to collect their children from Kama Elementary School but while many were saved, 30 children between eight and 12 years old remain in their classroom, silently playing games as they wait - possibly in vain - to be collected.

Reporters have not been permitted to enter the classroom at the school or to speak to the children as teachers and other relatives are concerned any contact - or the even the sound of a door opening - could cause the children to think their parents were safe.

With some 10,000 of Ishinomaki's 163,000 reported missing, it could take weeks, or months, for any news of the children's parents to surface.
The school's sports teacher Masami Hoshi said the disappearance of the parents could simply be a result of their route to the school or time of arrival on the day of the tsunami

Sendai and Tokyo, Japan Trying To Avert Full Scale MELTDOWN

Japanese authorities made desperate new attempts to avert full-scale meltdowns at a quake-battered nuclear plant Thursday, dispatching helicopters to drop tons of water on the reactors and using water cannons to cool a spent-fuel pool that an American official said was responsible for "very significant radiation levels."

At the same time, public anger mounted over the government's lagging efforts to provide relief for the survivors of last week's earthquake and tsunami.

U.S. and Japanese officials appeared to disagree on the magnitude of the nuclear crisis, as the White House recommended Wednesday that American citizens remain at least 50 miles away from the stricken plant, much farther than the 12-mile evacuation radius given by the Japanese government.

Japan Self-Defense Forces shot 30 tons of water from fire trucks to douse the overheated and possibly dry spent-fuel pool at the No. 3 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi plant, about 150 miles north of Tokyo. The power company's officials later said steam rising from the reactor led them to believe that they had added water to the pool, though it wasn't clear how much. They plan to resume their efforts early Friday. Without cooling, the spent rods could emit dangerous levels of radiation. Japan's defense minister said the U.S. military also was sending pumps to help inject water into the reactors.

Big Sur Marathon Could Be Affected By Road ClosureBig Sur, Calif--Part of Highway 1 south of Big Sur is closed to traffic indefinitely after a chunk of the road fell into the Pacific Ocean.

A 40-foot section of the two-lane highway crumbled just after 5 p.m. Wednesday following several days of rainy weather. All of the southbound lane is gone, and the soil under the northbound lane also is giving way.

The California Highway Patrol says no one was injured in the slide.

According to CHP, Highway 1 is completely closed between Bixby Bridge and Palo Colorado. The slide created serious issues for people on the road. They were forced to leave their cars and walk to safety.

Because of the location, there's no easy detour. From the north, you'll need to take Highway 68 over to Salinas, then head down Highway 101 South and cut over on Route 46 and then head back up Highway 1 north. 'It's very sad to realise that the wood we've been picking up is the remains of our houses,' said one man as he stumbled through the debris of homes which had once stood around the picture-postcard harbour in the port of Rikuzentakata.

'But we need fuel for the heaters and there is none – so we must make fires from this wood. A lot of it is dry enough to burn, so we can cook and perhaps keep a little bit warm.'

Japan's Reactor damaged much more serious than Tokyo acknowledges.

WASHINGTON — The chairman of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission gave a far bleaker appraisal on Wednesday of the threat posed by Japan’s nuclear crisis than the Japanese government had offered. He said American officials believed that the damage to at least one crippled reactor was much more serious than Tokyo had acknowledged, and he advised Americans to stay much farther away from the plant than the perimeter established by Japanese authorities.

The announcement opened a new and ominous chapter in the five-day-long effort by Japanese engineers to bring the six side-by-side reactors under control after their cooling systems were knocked out by an earthquake and a tsunami last Friday. It also suggested a serious split between Washington and its closest Asian ally at an especially delicate moment.

The Congressional testimony by Gregory Jaczko, the chairman of the commission, was the first time the Obama administration had given its own assessment of the condition of the plant, apparently mixing information it had received from Japan with data it had collected independently.

A United Nations forecast of the possible movement of the radioactive plume coming from crippled Japanese reactors shows it churning across the Pacific and touching the Aleutian Islands on Thursday before hitting Southern California late Friday.

On Sunday, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it expected that no “harmful levels of radioactivity” would travel from Japan to the United States “given the thousands of miles between the two countries.”

Health and nuclear experts emphasize that radiation in the plume will be diluted as it travels and, at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States, even if hints of it are ultimately detectable. In a similar way, radiation from the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 spread around the globe and reached the West Coast of the United States in 10 days, its levels measurable but minuscule.

The projection, by the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization, an arm of the United Nations in Vienna, gives no information about actual radiation levels but only shows how a radioactive plume would probably move and disperse.

The forecast, calculated Tuesday, is based on patterns of Pacific winds at that time and the predicted path is likely to change as weather patterns shift.

CAIRO (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday recommended its citizens living within 80 km (50 miles) of the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan evacuate the area or take shelter indoors.

The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo issued the advice in a statement distributed to reporters accompanying Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on a trip to Egypt.

"We are recommending, as a precaution, that American citizens who live within 50 miles of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant evacuate the area or to take shelter indoors if safe evacuation is not practical," it said.

The UK government is urging all British nationals to leave Tokyo as soon as possible amid fresh safety fears.

The Foreign Office this evening issued a statement recommending that all Britons leave the area for their own safety. At least 17,000 UK citizens live in Japan, the vast majority of them in Tokyo.

The plea came as the crisisFrantic attempts to cool down the reactors at the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant following Friday's earthquake and tsunami had to be suspended after high radiation levels were recorded.

Technicians later returned, but it was another setback in Japanese efforts to avoid a nuclear catastrophe.

The Foreign Office issued advice to any British nationals in - or to the north of - Tokyo to consider leaving the area because of the 'evolving situation' in Fukushima and potential disruptions to the supply of goods, transport, communications and power.
A spokesman for the British Embassy in Tokyo added: 'We are keeping our advice under constant review, taking into account statements from the Japanese authorities and informed by independent UK scientific and health experts.'

Dozens of other governments have issued similar recommendations, including Australia, Germany and France.
The French government today claimed that Japan was losing control of the situation at Fukushima and urged its nationals in Tokyo to leave the country or head to southern Japan.

Industry Minister Eric Besson said: 'Let's not beat about the bush. They have visibly lost the essential of control (of the situation). That is our analysis, in any case, it's not what they are saying.'

Environment Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet branded the situation a 'catastrophe' and said the latest information 'does not lead to optimism'.

'We recommend that all French citizens who do not have a good reason to stay in Tokyo either take a plane or, if they absolutely insist on staying, head south,' said, noted there was no official evacuation order.

The government has asked Air France to mobilise aircraft in Asia to assist with departures.

Germany's embassy in Tokyo has been 'partly relocated' to the consulate general in Osaka, according to officals.

Meanwhile, Japanese emergency teams say they are 'not afraid to die' as they face dangerous levels of radiation in the fight to stop catastrophe at the tsunami-hit Fukushima nuclear plant.

The stricken power station was abandoned for hours today, as soaring radiation forced the emergency workers to flee for their lives and authorities were reduced to spraying reactors with police water cannons.

Tokyo Japan's emperor said Wednesday he was praying for the safety of his people in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami, as the number of dead and missing rose above 13,000.

Japan's police agency said 4,340 people were confirmed dead and 9,083 missing, broadcaster NHK reported.

But this was expected to rise,"The number of people killed is increasing day by day and we do not know how many people have fallen victim," Emperor Akihito said, in an historic televised address that marked the first time he has intervened in a national crisis. "I pray for the safety of as many people as possible."

His comments came as rescue crews in the earthquake-stricken nation were battling freezing temperatures with the mercury dropping to mid-winter levels as the search for survivors amid the rubble continued.

The death toll was expected to rise as search and rescue crews may now enter coastal areas where tsunami warnings have finally been lifted, Kyodo News reported, with more than 80,000 defense force personnel and police officers being mobilized.

On Saturday, public broadcaster NHK reported that around 10,000 people were unaccounted for in the port town of Minamisanriku, also in Miyagi.

Amid a mass rescue effort there were grim reports indicating severe loss of life along the battered east coast of Honshu island, Japan's northernmost region, where the monster waves destroyed or damaged more than 55,380 homes and other buildings, AFP reported.

In an unusual move, overwhelmed police in the Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures began announcing the names of recovered bodies Wednesday, based solely on their belongings rather than a positive identification, Kyodo News reported.

A lack of running water, electricity and food continues to plague the devastated nation, with more than 500,000 people already evacuated from the worst-hit areas, according to NHK. In some of the most isolated areas, scores of people are still waiting for help and have no access to food.

What are the immediate health effects of exposure to radiation?

Exposure to moderate levels of radiation - above one gray - can result in radiation sickness, which produces a range of symptoms.

Nausea and vomiting often begin within hours of exposure, followed by diarrhoea, headaches and fever.

After the first round of symptoms, there may be a brief period with no apparent illness, but this may be followed within weeks by new, more serious symptoms.

At higher levels of radiation, all of these symptoms may be immediately apparent, along with widespread - and potentially fatal - damage to internal organs.

Exposure to a radiation dose of four gray will typically kill about half of all healthy adults.

For comparison, radiation therapy for cancer typically involves several doses of between one and seven gray at a time - but these doses are highly controlled, and usually specifically targeted at small areas of the body.

How is radiation sickness treated?

The first thing to do is to try to minimise further contamination by removing clothes and shoes, and gently washing the skin with soap and water.

Drugs are available that increase white blood-cell production to counter any damage that may have occurred to the bone marrow, and to reduce the risk of further infections due to immune-system damage.

There are also specific drugs that can help to reduce the damage to internal organs caused by radioactive particles.

How does radiation have an impact on health?

Radioactive materials that decay spontaneously produce ionising radiation, which has the capacity to cause significant damage to the body's internal chemistry, breaking the chemical bonds between the atoms and molecules that make up our tissues.

The body responds by trying to repair this damage, but sometimes it is too severe or widespread to make repair possible. There is also a danger of mistakes in the natural repair process.

Regions of the body that are most vulnerable to radiation damage include the cells lining the intestine and stomach, and the blood-cell producing cells in the bone marrow.

The extent of the damage caused is dependent on how long people are exposed to radiation, and at what level.

FUKUSHIMA, Japan – Japan suspended operations to prevent a stricken nuclear plant from melting down Wednesday after a surge in radiation made it too dangerous for workers to remain at the facility.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said work on dousing reactors with water was disrupted by the need to withdraw.

The level of radiation at the plant surged to 1,000 millisieverts early Wednesday before coming down to 800-600 millisieverts. Still, that was far more than the average...

"So the workers cannot carry out even minimal work at the plant now," Edano said. "Because of the radiation risk, we are on standby."

Experts say exposure of around 1,000 millisieverts is enough to cause radiation sickness.

Earlier officials said 70 percent of fuel rods at one of the six reactors at the plant were significantly damaged in the aftermath of Friday's calamitous earthquake and tsunami.

News reports said 33 percent of fuel rods were also damaged at another reactor. Officials had said they would use helicopters and fire trucks to spray water in a desperate effort to prevent further radiation leaks and to cool down the reactors.

The nuclear crisis has triggered international alarm and partly overshadowed the human tragedy caused by Friday's double disaster, which pulverized Japan's northeastern coastline, killing an estimated 10,000 people.

Authorities have tried frantically since the earthquake and tsunami to avert an environmental catastrophe at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex in northeastern Japan, 170 miles (270 kilometers) north Tokyo.

The government has ordered some 140,000 people in the vicinity to stay indoors. A little radiation was also detected in Tokyo, 150 miles (240 kilometers) to the south and triggered panic buying of food and water.

There are six reactors at the plant, and three that were operating at the time have been rocked by explosions. The one still on fire was offline at the time of the magnitude 9.0 quake, Japan's most powerful on record.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency estimated that 70 percent of the rods have been damaged at the No. 1 reactor.

Japan's national news agency, Kyodo, said that 33 percent of the fuel rods at the No. 2 reactor were damaged and that the cores of both reactors were believed to have partially melted.

"We don't know the nature of the damage," said Minoru Ohgoda, spokesman for the country's nuclear safety agency. "It could be either melting, or there might be some holes in them."

Meanwhile, the outer housing of the containment vessel at the No. 4 unit erupted in flames early Wednesday, said Hajimi Motujuku, a spokesman for the plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co.

On Monday afternoon, a grim-faced Chancellor Angela Merkel faced the press and spoke of a "watershed for the whole world," and for Germany of course too. "Everything must be placed under review," Merkel said. "There must be no taboos." If there is any doubt, she said, safety must prevail.

The Japanese earthquake has caused a dramatic upheaval in German politics. The center-right coalition has put on hold the extension of lifetimes for the country's 17 nuclear plants. They were all due to be phased out by 2021, but Merkel decided to prolong their operation by an average of 12 years in a deeply controversial move last autumn.

Another fire broke out on Wednesday at an earthquake-crippled Japanese nuclear plant that has sent low levels of radiation wafting into Tokyo and triggered international alarm, suggesting that the crisis may be slipping out of control.

Academics and nuclear experts agree that the solutions being proposed to contain damage to the Daiichi reactors at Fukushima, 240 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo, are last-ditch efforts to stem what could well be remembered as one of the world's worst industrial disasters.

While public broadcaster NHK said flames were no longer visible at the building housing the No.4 reactor of the plant, Japanese TV pictures showed smoke rising from the facility at mid-morning (1000 local, 0100 GMT).

Experts say spent fuel rods in a cooling pool at the No. 4 reactor could be exposed by the fire and spew more radiation into the atmosphere. Operator Tokyo Electric Power said it was considering using a helicopter to dump boric acid, a fire retardant, on the facility.

Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said two workers were missing after blasts at the facility a day earlier blew a hole in the building housing the No. 4 reactor.

Several experts said that Japanese authorities were underplaying the severity of the incident, particular on a scale called INES used to rank nuclear incidents. The Japanese have so far rated the accident a four on a one-to-seven scale, but that rating was issued on Saturday and since then the situation has worsened dramatically.

"This is a slow-moving nightmare," said Dr Thomas Neff, a research affiliate at the Center for International Studies, which is part of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "This could be a five or a six -- it's premature to say since this event is not over yet."

France's nuclear safety authority ASN said Tuesday it should be classed as a level-six incident.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan on Tuesday urged people within 30 km (18 miles) of the facility -- a population of 140,000 -- to remain indoors, as authorities grappled with the world's most serious nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine in 1986.

Officials in Tokyo said radiation in the capital was 10 times normal at one point but not a threat to human health in the sprawling high-tech city of 13 million people.

The best advice experts could give them was to stay indoors, close the windows and avoid breathing bad air -- steps very similar to those for handling a smog alert or avoiding influenza.

Fair Oaks teenager Allen Wright, who thought up an application for the Apple iPhone called "A Note to God," was apparently struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Sunrise Boulevard early Sunday and remains in a coma, his father said.

Wright's supporters are asking for users of the popular iPhone application to offer prayers for its young inventor.

"We believe in the power of prayer," said the teen's father, Tod Wright, his voice breaking with emotion. "(Allen) needs his idea of A Note to God to work for him."

A Note to God received worldwide attention upon its launch. It lets iPhone users send prayers into cyberspace and allows them to read the prayers of others and offer support.

Wright was 17 when he submitted his proposal to Medl Mobile, a Los Angeles-based developer of iPhone apps. Medl selected "A Note to God" from among 20,000 proposals, calling it "brilliant."

JAPAN - Airborne Radiation Were Detected At Yokosuka and Atsugi bases

YOKOSUKA, Japan -- The U.S. Navy said Tuesday that very low levels of radiation detected, about 200 miles to the north of the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

"While there was no danger to the public, Commander, Naval Forces Japan recommended limited precautionary measures for personnel and their families on Fleet Activities Yokosuka and Naval Air Facility Atsugi, including limiting outdoor activities and securing external ventilation systems as much as practical," a statement said.

"These measures are strictly precautionary in nature. We do not expect that any United States Federal radiation exposure limits will be exceeded even if no precautionary measures are taken," it added.

Fox News has confirmed that a small number of U.S. service members have been exposed to radiation Tuesday and are being treated with potassium iodide pills. A U.S. military official says the risk is manageable.

The U.S. military confirmed Tuesday that several Navy ships, including the carrier USS Ronald Reagan, had moved closer to the Japanese coast, after pulling away Monday due to concerns radioactive material was being blown toward the fleet. They are now operating north of Sendai, which is upwind of Fukushima.

CNN) -- Bahrain security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters in the southern city of Sitra on Tuesday, killing at least two protesters and wounding at least 150 people, according to medical officials on the scene Tuesday.

"They are killing everybody," one official said. "They attacked us -- even medical personnel."

The man, who asked to be identified only as a medical official for fear of reprisals, said he was riding with patients in an ambulance as he spoke.

"Even in this ambulance that is marked as an ambulance, they shot at it," he said. "We had to get on the floor of the ambulance. We are not safe even transferring injured patients."

Although troops Saudi Arabia and other member states in the Gulf Cooperation Council are in Bahrain, there have been no reports of those soldiers being involved in the Sitra clashes.

A Saudi soldier was killed in Sitra on Tuesday, a Saudi official said.

The United States issued a statement calling for "calm and restraint on all sides" and urging a political solution through dialogue, not a military solution.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, now in Cairo, Egypt, expressed "deep concern" about Bahrain in a conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud on Tuesday, a senior State Department official said.

Bahrain's King Hamad has imposed a three-month state of emergency in the island nation, effective Tuesday, according to the state news agency.

The moves comes amid uncertainty in Bahrain after foreign troops arrived to help the government quell weeks-long protests in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates sent troops Monday to "protect the safety of citizens," the Bahraini government said. The troops arrived under the banner of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

But some in the capital city said Tuesday that they did not need the added protection.

"We don't understand why these troops are coming in," said a 28-year-old blogger in Manama. "We have an army and police. We do not need troops from other places. Opposition leaders have called this an invasion. An act of war."

The blogger also said he did not want to be named because of fears of retribution.

One Saudi soldier, an under-sergeant, was killed in Bahrain on Tuesday, a Saudi official said. The cause of the death was not immediately released. Separately, a Bahraini police officer was killed in Sitra.

A man from the town of Hidd, who wanted to be identified only by his first name, said he feared that the troops would just inflame the already tense standoff.

"I really hope things work, but I don't think foreign troops will solve anything," Abdulrahim said. "It will probably lead to more violence."

But a 25-year-old banker from Manama said she welcomed the presence.

"It gives us peace," the woman said. "Maybe these protests will finally end. These protesters say they are peaceful, but I have seen them carrying sticks and knives. They are blocking the streets so we cannot get to work. They are criminals and this has gone on for too long."

The protests, which started February 14, are part of a series of demonstrations that have swept across the Arab world this year, toppling the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt. But it was not clear whether any other country had taken the step of calling in foreign troops for help.

"Temporarily, it should calm the situation," said Simon Henderson, director of the Gulf and energy policy program at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He noted that the Obama administration has been urging political dialogue but said Monday's move was not what the U.S. president meant.

"Sending in Saudi forces is hardly encouraging political dialogue," Henderson said. "The great danger is, it will actually worsen the situation by encouraging Iran to get involved. Not militarily, probably, but certainly diplomatically and rhetorically."

The movement of forces came on the same day that protesters seized control of a key part of the capital city, Manama, a Human Rights Watch official said.

Medical officials said that at least 36 people were injured in clashes Monday, many of them wounded by projectiles from pellet guns.

The Bahrain Financial Harbour was still shut down Tuesday morning, said Faraz Sanei, a researcher with the group. But the extra troops were not visible in the city.

"There are areas of the city that are being controlled by vigilante groups armed with sticks and batons. The patrols seem to be sectarian," he said.

"Any time civilians take up arms and take matters into their own hands or threaten violence it is of great concern," regardless of their political affiliation, Sanei said.

It was not clear how many foreign security troops had entered Bahrain in total. Various parts of the Bahraini government referred questions to other government offices on Monday.

A witness said dozens of armored vehicles and buses full of soldiers crossed Monday afternoon from Saudi Arabia into Bahrain afternoon via the causeway linking the two countries.

The Gulf Cooperation Council comprises six Gulf states -- Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar -- and encourages cooperation among members in a number of areas, including the economy and security.

The nation's independent bloc of lawmakers called on Bahrain security forces to intervene to protect national security and stability, the Bahrain News Agency reported Sunday. The bloc is composed of the 22 pro-government members of the lower house of the legislature.

"Extremist movements are resorting to escalation and sectarian mobilization, which led to an unprecedented disruption of security and hostile sectarian polarization at health and educational institutions," the group said in a statement.

On Sunday, clashes between protesters and security forces resulted in the hospitalization of more than 1,000 people, human rights activists said.

The unrest prompted the U.S. State Department to warn Americans to consider leaving the island nation. The United Kingdom, too, has urged its residents not to travel there.

When Clinton spoke to Prince Saud on Tuesday, she said the only durable solution in Bahrain was through a credible political process, not a military one, a senior State Department official said.

The White House issued a statement Tuesday calling for "calm and restraint on all sides" amid "increasing reports of provocative acts and sectarian violence by all groups."

"One thing is clear: There is no military solution to the problems in Bahrain," White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said. "A political solution is necessary, and all sides must now work to produce a dialogue that addresses the needs of all of Bahrain's citizens."

U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman is "working the issue aggressively on the ground as we speak," the White House said.

Last month, U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed plans by King Hamad to make changes to his Cabinet and proceed with reforms.

But a few days ago, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates cautioned that "baby steps" would not be sufficient to meet protesters' demands.

Bahrain is the key banking and financial center in the Gulf. It also plays a crucial role in U.S. defense interests in the region. The U.S. Fifth Fleet is headquartered in Bahrain, and Bahrain is the only Arab state to have led one of the coalition task forces that patrol the Persian Gulf. U.S. military access to Bahrain also supports operations in Iraq.

An underlying concern in this issue is that Iran, an overwhelmingly Shiite state, could seize the opportunity to meddle in Bahrain's internal affairs. Bahrain has a Shiite Muslim majority population, but its rulers are Sunni Muslims.

On Tuesday, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official criticized the arrival of Saudi troops as an "invasion," Iran's Press TV reported Monday.

Saudi Arabia's eastern province is home not only to many of the country's rich oil fields but to its largest concentration of minority Shiites as well.

In recent weeks, Shiite demonstrators there have protested the Saudi government, whose leaders are overwhelmingly Sunni.

The Saudi government would presumably be concerned that any uprising by Shiite Muslims in Bahrain could inspire the Shiite population in nearby Saudi Arabia to follow suit.

During protests in Bahrain, moderates have been demanding a constitutional monarchy, and hard-liners have called for the abolition of the royal family altogether.

But pro-government members of parliament have asked King Hamad to enforce a curfew and deploy security forces across the country, saying the protesters' motives are far more sinister.

"What we are witnessing in Manama is no peaceful protest," Bahrain's Foreign Minister Khalid al-Khalifa said on Twitter. "It's (a) wanton, gangster-style takeover of people's lives."

Japan Facing 'Colossal Catastrophe'

Half a million people are homeless, families wait for their loved ones and rescue workers continue the desperate search for survivors in the ruins: the situation in northeastern Japan is harrowing.

Otsuchi lies in ruins. Virtually no houses are still standing. Rubble, cars and twisted metal are piled up meters high. "This is probably the worst-affected town on the coast, there are some terrible pictures," says Patrick Fuller from the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC). "Almost the whole town has been washed away. Out of 17,000 residents, 9,500 are still missing. It is a colossal catastrophe."

Few houses were able to withstand the awesome power of the tsunami as it came flooding inland, Fuller -- working with a Japanese Red Cross emergency team in Iwate Prefecture -- told SPIEGEL ONLINE. There is no electricity and no running water as the authorities begin to recover the bodies. Nonetheless, some residents who fled the giant waves are already returning to Otsuchi. The shock only really sets in when they realize their homes are simply gone.

"It will take years to rebuild this town," adds Fuller, who has worked for the Red Cross for 20 years. He reveals that the only comparable scenes were those following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. "The worst thing is the extraordinary extent of the damage and the despair -- in such a developed country like Japan," the 47-year-old said over the phone. He sounds exhausted. "It is really disturbing and frightening. But that does not matter too much now: We are here to help."

There are still tens of thousands of people missing in northeastern Japan. According to the army, soldiers have managed to save 10,000 people, but at least as many are feared to be casualties in Miyagi Prefecture alone. Rescue workers recovered around 2,000 bodies there on Monday, pushing the number of deaths confirmed by the police to more than 3,600. Numerous teams from abroad are helping the 100,000 Japanese soldiers carry out the rescue work.

Exhausted Doctors Sleep Side by Side with the Wounded

In Ishinomaki, previously home to 165,000 people, the situation is critical after the earthquake and ensuing tsunami devastated the city. Rescue workers are in a "desperate race against time" to save anyone who may still be trapped under the rubble, Fuller says. In the Red Cross hospital, no space is going unused: "Exhausted doctors are sleeping side by side with the injured." More and more injured are being brought in, some able to walk, others being carried.

The port city of Kamaishi was also partly destroyed by the tsunami: A cargo ship has been thrown onto the waterfront, people stumble over piles of rubble and rescue workers use sniffer dogs to search for survivors. The waves which swept through the city in Iwate Prefecture were several meters high. Some residents were able to save themselves by getting to buildings or areas which were higher up.

Management consultant Oliver Bolzer has been following the news from this region of Japan with particular care, as his girlfriend's family live in the city. "We have had no contact with them," the 31-year-old, who lives in Tokyo, tells SPIEGEL ONLINE. But he is optimistic that they are okay. "They live on a hill along from where the terrible images are coming from. I'm pretty sure their houses will still be standing."

"It's Our Job"

Rescue efforts in many affected places have been hampered because of roads made impassable by destruction, landslide or floods. Telephone connections are still very unreliable and even satellite communications break down frequently.

"We can assess the risk. We trust our operations center. It's our job," said Daniel Riedel from Germany's federal emergency relief agency, the Technisches Hilfswerk (THW), in remarks to German news channel N24. The THW team arrived on Sunday and set up their camp around 50 kilometers north of Sendai. On Monday, the Germans had been due to start their rescue work but it was cancelled following a major aftershock and fresh tsunami warning. A spokesman from THW headquarters said they had had trouble contacting their team on the ground.

British team helps rescue operation

British efforts to help Japan are gathering pace as specialist teams begin their work in the country following the devastating earthquake and tsunami.

A search and rescue team organised by the Department for International Development (DfID) has arrived at its base 20km outside Ofunato in the north east, where they are due to join in the international search for survivors at first light.

The group, made up of 63 UK fire service search and rescue specialists, two rescue dogs and a medical support team, are set to work alongside American counterparts and co-ordinate their operation with local teams.

Meanwhile, 12 Britons and two New Zealanders from the International Rescue Corps (IRC) are in place to assist in the humanitarian effort.

The multi-skilled team, whose British members are drawn from across the UK, will be put to use as Japanese authorities see fit, a spokesman for the IRC said.

International disaster relief charity ShelterBox has also dispatched a team to Sendai, near the epicentre of Friday's massive earthquake, where they are assessing the need for emergency shelter.

An initial shipment of 200 of the charity's boxes, which would provide shelter for 2,000 people, is on its way from the UK and a further 5,000 boxes are on stand-by.

Each box contains a large tent for an extended family, a tool kit, blankets and water purification equipment.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister David Cameron has said there are "severe concerns" about Britons still missing in Japan after the disaster. Around 17,000 UK nationals are known to have been in Japan at the time the catastrophic quake struck, and fears remain that some of them may be among the tens of thousands believed killed.

The Foreign Office's emergency helpline has been contacted by around 4,700 worried relatives and friends seeking news of loved ones. Concerned friends and relatives of British nationals should contact the Foreign Office on the special number 020 7008 0000.

Power rationing to expand to northeastern Japan

Tohoku Electric Power Co. said Tuesday that it will implement electricity rationing in northeastern Japan from Wednesday to grapple with power shortages in the wake of Friday's killer earthquake, a day after Tokyo Electric Power Co. took the unprecedented measure in areas near the capital.

With the rationing set to continue through the end of April in eastern Japan, and longer in northeastern Japan excluding the quake-hit areas, concerns are mounting over its impact on the Japanese economy and people's everyday lives through the suspension of factory operations and reduced train services.

Power rationing in Tokyo and nearby prefectures got into full swing on Tuesday, leading some restaurants to serve lukewarm dishes and some shoppers to find supermarkets closed. At the same time, Tokyo Electric, known as TEPCO, tried to address some of the confusion, such as that regarding train services, witnessed the day before.

TEPCO, which is already under fire for a nuclear crisis involving its nuclear reactors in Fukushima Prefecture, has also been facing criticism over its handling of power rationing as the step was taken on short notice without giving people much time to comprehend what would happen.

Masamitsu Sakurai, chairman of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, said, ''Confusion is occurring because we're being informed when, in what areas and how long the blackouts will occur only at the last minute.''

The head of the business body known as Keizai Doyukai also said it might be better to deal with the power shortage by setting a limit on total electricity usage so that companies can suspend factories at their own pace.

While TEPCO's is planning to conduct area-by-area power rationing between 6:20 a.m. and 10 p.m., supply and demand at the time will determine whether the rationing will be implemented.

The power rationing lasted for only up to 90 minutes from 5 p.m. on the first day, thanks to region-wide energy saving efforts, but the suspension of electricity started at a much earlier 7 a.m. on the second day on expectations that demand for electricity will rebound, according to TEPCO officials.

TEPCO, in consultation with rail operators, has decided to transmit enough power to ensure stable train services, even in areas subject to outages, given that commuting in the Tokyo metropolitan area was paralyzed Monday due to a sharp reduction of train services.

Transport minister Akihiro Ohata apologized for the inconvenience and called on companies and schools to cooperate in lowering electricity demand by staggering the time employees go to work or by closing school classes, while urging TEPCO to take heed of the situation in each region when implementing power rationing.

After some evacuees expressed anger over the suspension of electricity Monday in areas where evacuation centers are located, TEPCO decided to exempt quake-hit Ibaraki Prefecture and parts of Chiba Prefecture from power rationing, according to prefectural officials.

The power rationing is taking place after Friday's massive earthquake crippled two of the utility company's key nuclear power plants in Fukushima Prefecture and led to the suspension of operations at its thermal plants.

TEPCO's service area covers Tokyo, Chiba, Gunma, Ibaraki, Kanagawa, Saitama, Tochigi, Yamanashi and part of Shizuoka prefectures. The area has been divided into five groups, each of which will experience power outages for 3 to 6 hours a day on a rotating basis.

The downtown area of Tokyo, however, is being excluded as central government offices and many company headquarters are located there.

Tohoku Electric officials said power rationing in its service area will be in place for at least three days from Wednesday, but quake-hit areas in the process of recovery, such as parts of Aomori Prefecture, as well as Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, will be excluded.

One of the officials who held a press conference in Tokyo said the measure could continue for several months, as its quake-hit thermal plants are likely to take a long time to recover from the damage.

Under Tohoku Electric's plan, power outages will take place for up to 6 hours a day in parts of Akita, Aomori, Yamagata and Niigata prefectures.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 jolted Shizuoka Prefecture and its vicinity, including Tokyo, on Tuesday evening, at a time when Japan is struggling to tackle the aftermath of the catastrophic quake in the country's northeast last week.

No tsunami warning was issued and no major damage to the Hamaoka nuclear plant in Omaezaki, Shizuoka Prefecture, or to Shizuoka airport was reported, according to Chubu Electric Power Co. and local police.

More than 20 people were taken to hospital by ambulance following the 10:31 p.m. quake. All of them are believed to have suffered minor injuries, local authorities said.

More than 21,000 households in the northern Fujinomiya city suffered a power outage, they said.

The quake registered upper 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in the eastern part of Shizuoka in central Japan, and upper 5 in the eastern part of neighboring Yamanashi Prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said its power stations are continuing to operate following the quake.

However, the Tokaido Shinkansen Line bullet train service was temporarily suspended between Shinagawa and Hamamatsu stations, while some sections of the Tomei and Chuo expressways were closed following the quake.

At the city hall in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, sections of the ceilings on the first and second floors fell, but no one was injured, according to the municipal government, while a blackout affecting around 22,000 households occurred in Fujinomiya in the prefecture, local police said.

A fire was reported at a hotel in Fujinomiya but it was extinguished shortly, the local fire department said.

A 34-year-old man in Gotemba, Shizuoka, and 63-year-old woman in Hadano, Kanagawa Prefecture, sustained injuries, according to local authorities.

The meteorological agency said the focus of the quake was in the eastern part of Shizuoka at a depth of 14 kilometers. The agency initially estimated the quake's magnitude at 6.0 but later revised it upward to 6.4.

The quake was not related to the massive Tokai earthquakes that occur regularly every 100 to 150 years in the Tokai region of central Japan, the agency said.

JAPAN - Spent Nuke Fuel Pool Boiling?, Further Radiation Leak Feared

A nuclear crisis at the quake-hit Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant deepened Tuesday as fresh explosions occurred at the site and its operator said water in a pool storing spent nuclear fuel rods may be boiling, an ominous sign for the release of high-level radioactive materials from the fuel.

At 6:14 a.m., a blast occurred at the No. 4 reactor and created two square holes sized about 8 meters by 8 meters in the walls of the building that houses the reactor. At 9:38 a.m., a fire broke out there and smoke billowed from those holes.

The top government spokesman said later in the day the massive radiation amount may have been recorded around the debris of the building that housed the No. 3 reactor. The building was blown away by the hydrogen explosion Monday.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. said water levels in the pool storing the spent fuel rods at its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant's No. 4 reactor may have dropped, exposing the rods. The firm said it has not yet confirmed the current water levels or started operations to pour water into the facility.

Unless the spent fuel rods are cooled down, they could be damaged and emit radioactive substances. The government's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency urged TEPCO to inject water into the pool soon to prevent heating of the fuel rods.

The utility said it cannot deny the possibility that the early morning explosion was caused by hydrogen that was generated by a chemical reaction involving the exposed spent nuclear fuel and vapor.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said at a press conference, ''We believe very-high-level radioactive substance has not been emitted continuously from the No. 4 reactor,'' citing radiation monitoring data at the plant.

The nuclear agency said water temperature in the pool stood at 84 degrees C as of 4 a.m. Monday, higher than the normal level of 40 to 50 degrees. Usually, the upper tip of the fuel rods is at a depth of 10 meters from the surface of the pool, it said.

Agency officials said the fuel rods will not reach criticality again as they have been stored in racks containing boron to prevent the phenomenon.

Edano said water temperature in the pools at the No. 5 and No. 6 reactors in the Fukushima plant has been rising as well.

The three reactors were not in service when a magnitude 9.0 earthquake jolted Fukushima Prefecture and other areas in northeastern Japan on Friday.

The agency said among the three, the situation is the severest for the No. 4 reactor because all the fuel rods are stored in the pool due to the change of the reactor's shroud. At the No. 5 and No. 6 reactors, up to one-third of the rods are kept in the pools.

The new development followed a critical situation at the No. 2 reactor at the Fukushima plant earlier in the day, in which part of the reactor's container vessel was damaged following an apparent hydrogen explosion at 6:10 a.m.

TEPCO said the problem could develop into a critical ''meltdown'' situation, in which fuel rods melt and are destroyed, emitting massive radioactive materials in the air.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan urged people living between 20 and 30 kilometers of the plant to stay indoors, after radiation equivalent to 400 times the level to which people can safely be exposed in one year was detected near the No. 3 reactor in the plant.
Residents within a 20-km radius have already been ordered to vacate the area following Saturday's hydrogen blast at the plant's No. 1 reactor.

''The danger of further radiation leaks (from the plant) is increasing.'' Kan warned the public at a press conference, while asking people to ''act calmly.''

Edano said the high radiation level detected at 10:22 a.m. after the explosions at the No. 2 and No. 4 reactors ''would certainly have negative effects on the human body.''
TEPCO has been continuing operations to pour seawater into the troubled No. 1, 2 and 3 reactors to prevent overheating and further damage to their containers. But despite the water injection, fuel rods in the three reactors remain partially exposed.

The cores of those three reactors at the plant are believed to have partially melted following the devastating quake.

The country's biggest recorded quake, which is also one of the largest in global history, caused the three reactors, which were all operating at the time, to automatically shut down.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan urged people within 30 km (18 miles) of the facility -- a population of 140,000 -- to remain indoors amid the world's most serious nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine in 1986.

Officials in Tokyo -- 240 km (150 miles) to the south of the plant -- said only minute levels of radiation had been detected so far in the capital, which were "not a problem".

Radiation levels in the city of Maebashi, 100 km (60 miles) north of Tokyo, and in Chiba prefecture, nearer the city, were up to 10 times normal levels, Kyodo news agency said. Foreign experts disagreed on whether this was harmful or not.

Around eight hours after the explosions, the U.N. weather agency said winds were dispersing radioactive material over the Pacific Ocean, away from Japan and other Asian countries. The Geneva-based World Meteorological Organisation added that weather conditions could change.

As concern about the crippling economic impact of the nuclear and earthquake disasters mounted, Japan's Nikkei index fell as much as 14 percent before ending down 10.6 percent, compounding a slide of 6.2 percent the day before. The two-day fall has wiped some $620 billion off the market.

Two of the reactors exploded on Tuesday at the Fukushima Daiichi plant after days of frantic efforts to cool them. Kyodo news agency said the nuclear fuel pool at the No. 4 reactor may be boiling, suggesting the crisis is far from over at the plant.

"The possibility of further radioactive leakage is heightening," a grim-faced Kan said in an address to the nation. "We are making every effort to prevent the leak from spreading. I know that people are very worried but I would like to ask you to act calmly."

Levels of 400 millisieverts per hour had been recorded near the No. 4 reactor, the government said. Exposure to over 100 millisieverts a year is a level which can lead to cancer, according to the World Nuclear Association.

The plant operator pulled out 750 workers, leaving just 50, and a 30-km no-fly zone was imposed around the reactors. There have been no detailed updates on what levels the radiation reached inside the exclusion zone where people live.

"Radioactive material will reach Tokyo but it is not harmful to human bodies because it will be dissipated by the time it gets to Tokyo," said Koji Yamazaki, professor at Hokkaido University graduate school of environmental science. "If the wind gets stronger, it means the material flies faster but it will be even more dispersed in the air."

Despite pleas for calm, residents rushed to shops in Tokyo to stock up on supplies. Don Quixote, a multi-storey, 24-hour general store in Roppongi district, sold out of radios, flashlights, candles and sleeping bags.

In a sign of regional fears about the risk of radiation, China said it would evacuate its citizens from areas worst affected but it had detected no abnormal radiation levels at home. Air China said it had cancelled flights to Tokyo.

Several embassies advised staff and citizens to leave affected areas. Tourists cut short vacations and multinational companies either urged staff to leave or said they were considering plans to move outside Tokyo.

"I'm scared. I'm so scared I would rather be in the eye of a tornado," said 10-year-old Lucy Niver of Egan, Minnesota, who was on holiday in Japan. "I want to leave."

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON"

Japanese media have became more critical of Kan's handling of the disaster and criticised the government and nuclear plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) for its failure to provide enough information on the incident.

Kan himself lambasted the operator for taking so long to inform his office about one of the blasts, demanding to know "what the hell is going on?", Kyodo reported.

Kyodo said Kan had ordered TEPCO not to pull employees out of the plant.

"The TV reported an explosion. But nothing was said to the premier's office for about an hour," a Kyodo reporter quoted Kan telling power company executives.

Lam Ching-wan, a chemical pathologist at the University of Hong Kong, said the blasts could expose the population to longer-term exposure to radiation, which can raise the risk of thyroid and bone cancers and leukaemia. Children and foetuses are especially vulnerable, he said.

"Very acute radiation, like that which happened in Chernobyl and to the Japanese workers at the nuclear power station, is unlikely for the population," he said.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano, talking of levels of radiation at the Fukushima Daiichi plant's No. 4 reactor, said: "There is definitely a possibility that this could affect people's bodies."

There have been a total of four explosions at the plant since it was damaged in last Friday's massive quake and tsunami. The most recent were blasts at reactors No. 2 and No. 4.

There was a real possibility of a leak in the No.4 reactor container, which houses the nuclear fuel rods, according to Murray Jennex, a professor at San Diego State University in California.

Concerns centre on damage to a part of the reactor core known as the suppression pool, which helps cool and trap the majority of cesium, iodine, strontium in its water. The nature of the damage was unclear, as was its impact on the containment structure, a thick steel vessel that surrounds the core.

Jennex said the crisis in Japan, the only nation to have suffered a nuclear attack, was worse that the Three Mile Island disaster of 1979.

"But you're nowhere near a Chernobyl ... Chernobyl there was no impediment to release, it just blew everything out into the atmosphere," he said. "You've still got a big chunk of the containment there holding most of it in."

Authorities had previously been trying to prevent meltdowns in the complex's nuclear reactors by flooding the chambers with sea water to cool the reactors down.

A sudden drop in cooling water levels when a pump ran out of fuel had fully exposed the fuel rods for a time, an official said. TEPCO had resumed pumping sea water into the reactor early on Tuesday.

U.S. warships and planes helping with relief efforts moved away from the coast temporarily because of low-level radiation. The Seventh Fleet described the move as precautionary.

South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines said they would test Japanese food imports for radiation.

VILLAGES AND TOWNS WIPED OFF THE MAP

The full extent of the destruction from last Friday's 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that followed it was still becoming clear, as rescuers combed through the region north of Tokyo where officials say at least 10,000 people were killed.

Whole villages and towns have been wiped off the map by Friday's wall of water, triggering an international humanitarian effort of epic proportions.

About 850,000 households in the north were still without electricity in near-freezing weather, Tohuku Electric Power Co. said, and the government said at least 1.5 million households lack running water. Tens of thousands of people were missing.

Toshiyuki Suzuki, 61, has a heart pacemaker and takes seven kinds of medicine a day. He lost all of them when the waves swept away his home, along with his father and son.

He cannot go to hospitals because there is no gasoline at local fuel stations. "I am having problems with walking and with my heartbeat. I absolutely need medicine."

Kan has said Japan is facing its worst crisis since World War Two.

Hiromichi Shirakawa, chief economist for Japan at Credit Suisse, said in a note to clients that the economic loss will likely be around 14-15 trillion yen ($171-183 billion) just to the region hit by the quake and tsunami.

Even that would put it above the commonly accepted cost of the 1995 Kobe quake which killed 6,000 people.

The earthquake has forced many firms to suspend production and global companies -- from semiconductor makers to shipbuilders -- face disruptions to operations after the quake and tsunami destroyed vital infrastructure, damaged ports and knocked out factories.

"The earthquake could have great implications on the global economic front," said Andre Bakhos, director of market analytics at Lec Securities in New York. "If you shut down Japan, there could be a global recession."

A quake-stricken nuclear plant in Japan has been hit by a third explosion in four days, amid fears of a meltdown.

The blast occurred at reactor 2 at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, which engineers had been trying to stabilise after two other reactors exploded.

One minister has said it is "highly likely" that the rods might melt. Radiation levels near the plant have risen.

The crisis was sparked by a 9.0-magnitude quake and tsunami on Friday.

Thousands of people are believed to have died, and millions are spending a fourth night without water, food, electricity or gas. More than 500,000 people have been left homeless.

A tide of bodies has washed up along Japan's coastline, crematoriums are overwhelmed and rescue workers have run out of body bags as the nation faces the grim reality of a mounting humanitarian, economic and nuclear crisis after its tsunami and earthquake.

Millions of people were facing a fourth night without water, food or heating in near-freezing temperatures in the north-east devastated by an earthquake and the tsunami wave it spawned.

Meanwhile, a third reactor at a nuclear power plant lost its cooling capacity and the fuel rods at another were at least briefly fully exposed, raising fears of a meltdown. The stock market plunged over the likelihood of huge losses by Japanese industries including big names such as Toyota and Honda.

A Japanese police official said 1,000 washed up bodies were found scattered across the coastline of the Miyagi area. The discovery raised the official death toll to about 2,800, but the Miyagi police chief has said that more than 10,000 people are estimated to have died in his province alone, which has a population of 2.3 million.

The Japanese nuclear reactor hit by the tsunami went into 'meltdown' today, as officials admitted that fuel rods appear to be melting inside three damaged reactors.

That means there is a risk that molten nuclear fuel can melt through the reactor's safety barriers and cause a serious radiation leak.

There have already been explosions inside two over-heating reactors at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant, and the fuel rods inside a third were partially exposed as engineers desperately fight to keep them under control after the tsunami knocked out emergency cooling systems.
Japanese chief cabinet secretary Yukio Edano said it was 'highly likely' that the fuel rods inside all three stricken reactors are melting.

Some experts class that a partial meltdown of the reactor, but others would only use that term for when molten nuclear fuel melts through a reactor's inner chamber - but not through the outer containment shell.

As fuel rods melt, they form an extremely hot molten pool at the bottom of the reactor that can melt through even the toughest of containment barriers.

Japan is fighting to avoid a nuclear catastrophe after the tsunami. There was a hydrogen explosion at the reactor in Unit Three of the power station earlier today, in which eleven workers were hurt by the blast that was felt 25 miles away.

Seventeen US helicopter crewmen helping in the Japanese rescue efforts were contaminated with radiation today as fears grew of a nuclear meltdown.

They were treated on the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan as a second explosion rocked a crippled power plant and caused radioactive fallout. Smoke poured from Fukushima Daiichi's No 3 reactor, two days after a blast at its No 1 reactor, 150 miles north of Tokyo.

Fears of a nuclear disaster in Japan were heightened today after a second explosion at the stricken Fukushima Dai-ichi number one plant.
A hydrogen explosion rocked Unit three of the plant sending a plume of smoke into the air - as engineers frantically tried to reduce pressure in the overheating reactor.

The blast follows a similar explosion at Unit one of the facility on Saturday and another reactor at the plant has also lost its cooling capacity, raising the risk of another explosion.

The first thing you notice is the silence which seems to hang over the place. There is no sound as we approach this once-thriving coastal town.
Driving round the final bend in the mountain road before making the descent into Minami Sanriku, nothing can quite prepare you for the sight of such destruction.
In my 30 years as a war correspondent I have covered more than 20 conflicts and several major earthquakes, but I have never seen anything on this scale.
One minute you are passing through towns and villages completely untouched by natural disaster – not even a pane missing from the windows – and then as you turn the corner it hits you.
The most astonishing view stretches out below towards the sea for at least four miles. An entire town of around 17,000 people has simply ceased to exist here.
At least 95 per cent of the buildings are not merely ruined; they have been reduced to a morass of splintered wood, jagged concrete and twisted metal. All of this is hideously decorated with the details of destroyed family lives: a woman smiles up from her wedding photographs, a smashed guitar lies in the debris. I see a broken doll, and pages from a child’s school exercise book.

(Space.com) The massive earthquake that struck northeast Japan Friday (March 11) has shortened the length Earth's day by a fraction and shifted how the planet's mass is distributed.

A new analysis of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has found that the intense temblor has accelerated Earth's spin, shortening the length of the 24-hour day by 1.8 microseconds, according to geophysicist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

Gross refined his estimates of the Japan quake's impact - which previously suggested a 1.6-microsecond shortening of the day - based on new data on how much the fault that triggered the earthquake slipped to redistribute the planet's mass. A microsecond is a millionth of a second.

"By changing the distribution of the Earth's mass, the Japanese earthquake should have caused the Earth to rotate a bit faster, shortening the length of the day by about 1.8 microseconds," Gross told SPACE.com in an e-mail. More refinements are possible as new information on the earthquake comes to light, he added.

The scenario is similar to that of a figure skater drawing her arms inward during a spin to turn faster on the ice. The closer the mass shift during an earthquake is to the equator, the more it will speed up the spinning Earth.

(CNN) -- The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

"At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass," said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters).

The temblor, which struck Friday afternoon near the east coast of Japan, killed hundreds of people, caused the formation of 30-foot walls of water that swept across rice fields, engulfed entire towns, dragged houses onto highways, and tossed cars and boats like toys. Some waves reached six miles (10 kilometers) inland in Miyagi Prefecture on Japan's east coast.

The quake was the most powerful to hit the island nation in recorded history and the tsunami it unleashed traveled across the Pacific Ocean, triggering tsunami warnings and alerts for 50 countries and territories as far away as the western coasts of Canada, the U.S. and Chile. The quake triggered more than 160 aftershocks in the first 24 hours -- 141 measuring 5.0-magnitude or more.

The quake occurred as the Earth's crust ruptured along an area about 250 miles (400 kilometers) long by 100 miles (160 kilometers) wide, as tectonic plates slipped more than 18 meters, said Shengzao Chen, a USGS geophysicist.

Japan is located along the Pacific "ring of fire," an area of high seismic and volcanic activity stretching from New Zealand in the South Pacific up through Japan, across to Alaska and down the west coasts of North and South America. The quake was "hundreds of times larger" than the 2010 quake that ravaged Haiti, said Jim Gaherty of the LaMont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University.

The Japanese quake was of similar strength to the 2004 earthquake in Indonesia that triggered a tsunami that killed over 200,000 people in more than a dozen countries around the Indian Ocean. "The tsunami that it sent out was roughly comparable in terms of size," Gaherty said. "[The 2004 tsunami] happened to hit some regions that were not very prepared for tsunamis ... we didn't really have a very sophisticated tsunami warning system in the Indian Ocean basin at the time so the damage was significantly worse."

The Japanese quake comes just weeks after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch on February 22, toppling historic buildings and killing more than 150 people. The timeframe of the two quakes have raised questions whether the two incidents are related, but experts say the distance between the two incidents makes that unlikely.

"I would think the connection is very slim," said Prof. Stephan Grilli, ocean engineering professor at the University of Rhode Island.

HELL Is For The Fallen

Back to the time in my testimony of being shocked back into the reality that we are all going through tribulation, I mentioned a vision of Hell. My purpose of adding this here is not to share all of that in particular, just some important aspects that I feel I need to highlight. JESUS gave me this glimpse and taste of Hell for me and for others, so we can examine ourselves to see if we be in The Way, The Truth and The Life.... In JESUS~

Praise Him.

Hell is a very real place and I DO NOT WANT anyone to ever be in it. Hell was created for Lucifer and the fallen angels who follow after him in rebellion...

When we, who are (called, chosen and Christ-like), die physically (we are eternal in the Heavenly Kingdom of JESUS and we never die), or when we will be changed in the twinkling of an eye on the LAST DAY at the Last Trumpet... but only if we endure to the end and remain in HIS Faith... we shall be an heavenly being... Arisen to be with HIM eternally.... in The New City, Heavenly Jerusalem, in Mount Zion in the sides of the North, with our Great King!

So.... the opposite must hold true, that if you are not HIS.... then you are... considered a fallen man in this life... and a future fallen angel in the clutches of Hell. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft...

My attempt at giving you a fit description of my experience in Hell is beyond my capabilities, I will do my best as the Holy Spirit leads...

The main point is that Hell is absolute utter darkness, with an aloneness that is so deeply and intensly felt, that I can only try to begin to describe it.

Well one moment you are alive and in your body...

then you're not... physically...

however, you still exist spiritually..... You are Very Alive...

Even though GOD is everywhere, to those souls who are there in Hell...

HE is NOT there (for them)... in any way, shape, or form...

The worst feeling to overcome you in Hell is the knowledge that you are Forever Forsaken, Eternally Lost and Without Hope! At first you know exactly where you are, but wonder, why am I here?... What did I do?... Then you remember... and you never ever forget why...

The replays come over you all over again, all of the memories, everything in your life you thought, said, heard and every choice, action and non-action.... and so very vivid and clear, and I mean.... all of it.... You definately and quickly realize... well, it's just too late now for repenting.

Repent now, Jesus is calling for all to repent of their trangressions, sins and lifestyles, yes all of them... Forever to be lost in the sea of forgetfulness. Answer HIS call, forgiveness will be given, and you will be free in deed!

In Hell there is this inner and outer darkness, meaning no light, no love, no warmth, no security, no comfort, and everyone in Hell, (people you would never want to be associated with), they are there. But You are still Alone...

There is a deep unexplainable coldness in your mind and spirit, unspeakable fear, screams, the desolate forboding feelings of abstract despair, much crying aloud because of the horrible pains and then when you think you have felt all the negative, fearful and awfulness you can handle.... you get a sense of the creatures and evil spirits there.

In my vision I felt them, I never heard or saw them, I just knew they were there. After this, you can only Scream............................................................... and then... all the souls in there scream along with you afresh for they are dealing with their own anguish... It's too horrible for any words... Just Screams...

NOTHING and NO ONE in this present world, is worth losing your soul for.

If HE is calling...

answer and seek HIM out now, today, Please, while it is yet today (the day of salvation) for we may not have another tommorrow... and Time itself is drawing to a close...

Well, my vision of Hell was way more than this and too long to share in this article, however, it brought me closer to JESUS. And I am forever in appreciation to HIM for calling me out of walking the line ~ middle of the road ~ sitting on the fence ~ straddling both heaven and the world...

Remember... we can't have it both ways, we don't have time to be lukewarm, only to be spewed out, where one will ever be on fire of the eternal damnation with no way out...

Forever....

He is soon returning for His own...

There is a coming Judgement...

We all need to be on fire in our walk for JESUS!

Awakening While Awaiting For HIM

Going back to the beginning of the newness of my life with The Lord which all began with great searching in the scriptures asking, seeking and knocking. Praise The Lord JESUS I began the walk of Faith!

Years had passed since I first believed as a pre-teen, I had married a wonderful man and we were blessed with a son. During those years, we attended churches on and off, had read the Bible all the way through and had a few studies. I read a lot of books dealing with the "Last Days" and went to seminars as well. As a teen I had read a book called "the late great planet earth" and that's where I got my start. However, the church I had attended as a teen taught us that we would go through tribulation. I guess I got caught up (pardon the pun), in the "rapture" theory and as time went by I felt something was off but didn't know what.

So it was this seeking and searching for the TRUTH in the Fall of 1994, that I read a few more books that had more leanings of going through trials and tribulations and got somewhat shocked back into the reality of it all. I had been drawing close to LORD, reading HIS Word and praying and HE had been leading me and revealing much. It was truly beautiful. He had also given me a vision of Hell! That sealed it all up for me and just made me want more of HIM in my life. I could not imagine a life without being with JESUS. If you knew me ...then you would know HIM! I told everyone I knew and everyone I met.

Awakened to HIS Spirit, I began studying everything regarding the truth about holidays and religions (even wanting to learn the Hebrew language and learning of the Jewish roots of Christianity), including books on History and also digging into old encyclopedias and books. We also went searching for a KJV church, thought we had found one, it soon had a split and then the Preacher began using the NIV version of the Bible (I only read KJV), so that was not working, we left... We still have not found one.... Anyway my life had dramatically chnged so that I found myself with less and less friends. I was perfectly fine with this however!

By the springtime of 1995, I felt I had really matured and I had indeed learned so much of Grace, Peace, Mercy, Love and Forgiveness and had experienced so much with JESUS! He gave another vision this one of an EMP OUTAGE Event that signals the very last few days of this age! It was at this time that things started to heat up for me. We lost a beloved pet due to an illness, my Dad passed away after I had only 4 years prior re-connected with him.

Then one day someone spray painted a Nazi symbol in my driveway. Well I wasn't afraid of anyone or anything, but it was stirring a curiosity in my mind... So I then turned my attention to Hitler and read as many books regarding him as I could find... Soon I found a great love and sympathy for the Jewish peoples, even began witnessing to those in our community.... I found out almost right away that most wanted nothing to do with JESUS! I was ok with that too for I would think again that if they would not listen to GOD what would ever make me think that they would listen to me.... Then I read a few books with post-trib - pre-wrath rapture but there was still something wrong... I just couldn't figure it out... I think back on this time and in hind-sight, now I can see it so clearly... With that one act of vandalism, the enemy pulled me back into error. And worse, it fomented a deep sympathy for a religion that was and is as backwards as it gets. For The meaning of Holocaust means "A Religious Sacrafice"!!!

I pray for ALL peoples everywhere... for JESUS died for All and ... All need a Savior! Amen!

So I continued in reading books and the final one named "The Sign", well this one had a chart and was very convincing but a Temple rebuilt and animal killing didn't sit well with me...

As time passed, my life consisted of reading scriptures, listening to KJV on tape, raising my family, working and visiting a church here and there with no success in finding one to continue in... Lies or errors or wrong Bibles at every one of them. I thank GOD that I didn't get involved in any of them. I would teach the girls that worked for us we called it "Church Work" and we really studied and learned much! My Brother-in-law told me of a great website called LastTrumpetMinistries.org it was a very informative newsletter that I loved right away and still do. There was Truth, and it was very refreshing to me. I would check in every time a major event occurred. I didn't know David J. Meyer was a Pastor of a Church, just thought He did the newsletter.

More years passed, and many illnesses, deaths of loved ones and many heartaches later I found myself still loving our Lord JESUS and yes still seeking for Truth it was as if pieces of a puzzle were coming together for me ... howbeit slowly...

Because of the downturn in the economy, we had to downsize our company, let all employees go... this was the end of August 2009.

As I had more time for the computer, I noticed audios available on LTM! So as I worked from home I listened and as I heard Truth I truly rejoiced and I began listening to his messages in my free time as well... I was learning so much, realized how dry and thirsty and starving for Manna I really was and I was so eager for more... Then I found they were meeting on Pal-Talk this is a chat room online, so I joined them. This was about the time I had finished the audios on the main site. Well a few nights later I told them I had finished and wanted more they directed me to the archives. WOW!!! I was so excited and started in immediately as well as live services, Bible Studies and a live Q & A night with Pastor Meyer! He was sent from GOD to us and his messages and ministry needs to continue! This ministry is a Blessing indeed! Now almost all of the problems I had in Last days studies... are gone for he taught very well and he was very extensive and scripturally accurate!

Pastor David J. Meyer 7 months ago tonight, went on to his heavenly reward on June 8th, 2010.

I was truly and am still blessed everytime I hear a message from him. He just really had a way of shining the light of the GOSPEL of JESUS! Truth and Doctrine were always in focus and it was so evident that he loved his LORD!

My prayers and love for his precious Wife Shirley, Samuel his son who is continuing to write the newsletter and all of his children, those at Truth Tabernacle and all who love them... worldwide....

*Death to self, burial of old person in this earthly body, arise to the New Kingdom Life in JESUS! Walking in the Spirit, by faith!

* Jesus life must now be lived through us... By His Faith we have before us the good fight which is a daily battle to stay dead to self, and the world... Refiners Fire, His Holy Ghost Fire!
With whom we're to remain in by and through faith until He Returns!
We Exalt and Magnify The Lord!

Then cast out! Forever.

*Jesus washed us clean in His Pure shed Blood... Praise The LORD!

*Jesus is the potter and We are the clay... re-made into Vessels of Honor!

Jeremiah 19:11 And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter's vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

* The wrath of Almighty God! Judgement will come on Vessels of dishonor... The Stone will indeed crush those who are not His people...

Jeremiah 22:28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

*This happened in the natural...
Will be so much more worse in the Everlasting Life, spiritually and physically...

Jeremiah 25:34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.

Romans 8
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

*It is a Joy and a pleasure unto the LORD when we are of a broken and contrite spirit, only then can He fill us with His Holy Ghost, The New Wine... Amen GLORY!
We now have just a taste, a sampling...

Joel 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

*Then the Kingdom will Glorious and Everlasting!

*GOD is Good All The Time!

*Are you His Beloved? Have you entered into the Heavenly Realm? Have you received of the Refreshing from The Lord? It's a wonderful, exciting way to live!

*On the Last Day... His re-created vessels of honor will enter into HIS KINGDOM... Are you a new creature? Have you Repented of your sins and trusted in Jesus to save you and keep you?
Time is running out, the end is so near... He is long suffering but He will not wait always...
There is an appointed Day! A Last Day of Time ...
Then we enter into the Eternal Life with the Lamb that was slain for us...
He Alone is our Father, Master, Teacher, Comforter, Lord and our King!

52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

*We all learn by our experience, through trials and testings, in valleys deep and mountains high, through the storms of life, the calmness of time spent in prayer, in His Words as they give us wisdom and understanding.... The ONLY way to confirm we are in the Holy Way! KJV Bible!
We are then led by The HOLY Spirit of Jesus to share, comfort, exhort or just have the ability to proclaim Truth to all situations...
This is indeed a treasure! Some to keep and some to share... He blesses us with so many gifts just when we need them most!

Matthew 9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

* Remember Adam and Eve in the garden? He made them a covering with the skins from a sacrificed animal, until the Lamb of God that taketh away sin wold come...
No patchwork will do... No imitation knock-offs will work either... Jesus is real, His ways are perfect, His words are true, His promises are sure... He is Yes and Amen!

*Even the most righteous of men cannot enter in, it is only through Jesus...
The result of all a mans goodness (works) will still leave him naked with NO covering on that last day...

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

God is In Control - HE Alone is Sovereign!

14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

*Oh How Marvellous and Wonderful This Gathering of His people will be!

Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Mark 2:22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

Luke 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.
Luke 5:38 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

*The Holy Spirit is to be received of men, only if they have died to self and are Born Again... All Sin, Old worldly (pagan) traditions, old ways, old religions, old thoughts, old beliefs, old systems and All other lifestyles must be repented of or else it is futile...
Jesus is the Only Way, Truth and Life no man comes to the Father except by HIM! ONLY by Jesus we are preserved and are found to be remaining in His faith until the end of the world...

Matthew 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

*The foolish did not and they fell asleep and were not worthy or able to celebrate the great Wedding! They were not able to live nor endure to the end of completion!

* We are to keep the fires burning at all times in season and out. *Jesus was crucified for our transgressions, carried them on HIS body to the cross, shedding HIS Precious Blood thereby conveying His LOVE for all and with that He purchased our souls, saving us from our sins, death, wrath and Hell!

A Glass Ceiling in the natural world is a very real and at times elusive and an exclusive situation, however many are now breaking through barriers of many types to reach and attain successful goals.

Also It is defined as the upper surface, upper limit, function, ultimate, highest, maximum, imposed limit, diminishing effect and Cloud... depending on the use of the term.

Ceiling, the upper surface of a room.

Ceiling function in mathematics.

Glass ceiling a bar to advancement of a qualified person.

Ceiling (aeronautics) the maximum density altitude an aircraft can reach under a set of conditions.

Flight ceiling the upper altitudinal limit at which any aircraft may fly.

Price ceiling an imposed limit on the price of a product.

Ceiling effect a diminishing effect of greater doses of a drug

Ceiling (cloud) the height above ground at which.(accumulated) cloud layers cover more than 50% of the sky.

In the Spiritual it has the same meanings but if this barrier is not broken through... the outcome is Ultimately and Eternally severe...

This is the Great Glass Barrier that No Man can break through... It can't be earned and is so not deserved. You may be asking yourself, What is this?

We know the Heavenly Jerusalem is Where our Kingdom is and when Jesus returns... He meets us in the Sky where the NEW Heavens and NEW Earth begins to descend and His people who are dead and those who are alive and remaining rise to Him and are changed in the twinkling of an eye; into immortals and so we shall EVER BE With The Lord! ... Even So, Come Quickly Lord Jesus, Amen... 1Cor. 15:52 and Rev. 22:20

Jesus is The Only Way to break this Glass Barrier....

Unless you REPENT, serve, trust, love and obey Him and with desires for Him more than for Anything Else, you will not break through....

In The Book of Romans we read that Righteousness is a gift from God...

It means we are declared righteous. We can enjoy a relationship with God as though we were righteous, we must work out our Salvation daily...

"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" 2 Corinthians 5:21.

Because all humanity is unrighteous, corrupted by sin and unable to live according to God's perfect standards. All Come Short of the Glory of GOD... Romans 3:10

One who feeds the sheep.

He is totally devoted to the Lord Jesus, his family and his flock. He is very insightful as he is led by the Holy Ghost, speaking the Truth wisely, correcting with compassion, humble... for he leans not on his own understanding, is not ever prideful or arrogant, never thinking himself better than others, a living sacrifice serving God with his all.

He helps with loving-kindness, he leads with prayers, praise and worship, he teaches scripture as God reveals, his heart reaches out to the poor and downtrodden, showing the Lords great mercies unto the lost, urgently warning and yet comforting at the same time. Always reminding us to watch and to pray, to seek for the Lord's will for everything and to keep on walking by faith!

Never seeking his own but labors always for the Glory of God. Leading as many who listened to reach a place in their lives where they are trusting only in Jesus and remaining faithful unto Him! Then delightfully watches as they stand on the same foundation of Christ and His words, rejoicing in the Lord as they too go out into the world to do the same.

A mighty warrior as well, he invades the enemy camp, and sees the God of the universe in Victory after Victory!

Don't Walk Where You Cannot See...

This is very good advice while camping-out!

It happened one very dark night
in the deep woods up in the mountains
that someone in my family
unfortunately did not heed
this warning, did not carry the flashlight
and fell on a tree stump
and became injured as a result!
Praise the Lord no bones were broken
and a few days later He was good to go!

As I was reflecting on this fact; Spiritually, as we are walking in this world that is so full of gross darkness, we need the Living Light Jesus provided for us in His words of Life; to be able to see through the darkness in all areas of this life, so as not to stumble and fall as most of us have.
By allowing sin in our life or not trusting Him, or by not being truly devoted to Jesus, we have had to bear heartaches and pains along with guilt, that are so unfortunate and could and should be prevented from now on...
I guess they are those hard lessons that needed to be learned, maybe the only way for us to understand, for we sometimes are a stubborn and self willed people! But our God is Faithful!

We do need Him to see clearly through the demonic lies; of false doctrines, religions, political states, and the many I-s-m-s... All isms begin with I... And looking to Him through His words as the author and finisher of our faith, we see ourselves; and lined up or compared to His perfection only then do we see our faults...

Many learned men who live out their lives thinking they are wise are in fact taught of them who were in darkness, and so on and so on all throughout history... Some may just have been ignorant of the truth, however others were very deviant, subtle and while sounding truthful and very religious watered the words down to where there was no power, revised the words til they lost true meanings; and like as in the childhood game of "pass it down", It hardly makes any sense either!

(remember lucifer a.k.a. satan wanted to be worshipped like GOD and he is very spiritual); these men like snakes in the grass who crept in unawares and bewitched, seduced and led the many astray into the unknown untrustworthy untruths which were certainly never taught by our Lord Jesus or any of His disciples. And those under this teaching didn't do their homework by searching the scriptures, or the cares of life had them too busy, etc.

It's not hard to be deceived, especially with so much untruth as is in the world today!... Jesus warned us over and over to beware...
Also note that popularity doesn't make something right!

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them" Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil. All idolatry is an abomination to God and needs to be recognized as such.

We really have to give diligence to Jesus or we will be snared, go the wrong way, or stumble and fall... I knew something wasn't right, but couldn't quite figure it out, then the cares of the world took up a lot of my time!
Lost time and regret was the result, but Praise God!
He forgives and helps us to move forward and toward HIM!

or 3 separate comings of Jesus...

First one is hearing His call to you, repenting of your sins, believing in His 1st coming as the suffering Savior, by being born again spiritually through that faith in Him, participating in a full water immersion baptism in Jesus name (death to self - burial of self, and rising into the new Life in Christ) and then continuing in the power of the Holy Ghost! Which is the baptism by fire! But The Lord carries us through the trials of life as we drink from His cup!

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Second one is when He returns on the Last Day or The Day of the LORD... The resurrection of the dead in Christ and those who are alive and remain in the faith, at His 2nd and last coming! and... the dead that believe not Christ to their hellish fate!

There will be real Global Warming!
So then all of the great noble people with their causes, majority rules, democracy, conservatism, commUNism, socialism, and humanism that say they have all the answers for humanity, never ever mentioning the ONE TRUE GOD...
well, they will find out that just the opposite is true. They didn't have the answer, they were deceived!
JESUS is the Only Answer!
We can only pray that God will reveal Himself to them if it's His will, that they turn around and repent!

In the end of the world or age, when time is no more, they will become like stubble, weeds, fruitless branches that are fit for the fires... And remember any one without salvation from Jesus cannot enter into God's Kingdom...

We also read of people of the night or those walking in great darkness (unbelief), these men did not want to acknowledge that Jesus was God!

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name (JESUS) of the only begotten Son of God.
19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
He is the Light of the world! They wanted to rule and reign instead, they wanted to do things their way... or they wanted to continue in their sins, like a lot of people today!

We read In the following scriptures; After the news that Lazarus has died...
John 11: 7 Thenafter that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. 10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
If we read the statement just before, we understand that this saying was an acknowledgement that those men who wished to stone him were walking in darkness they were not the seed of Abraham... Jesus mentioned several times that certain of the men were blind guides, hypocritical pharisees, and that they were of their father the devil, etc... That they knew Him not because they really didn't know God at all!
They were not of Israel! Nor were those who killed John the Baptist and stoned the prophets of the Old Testament!

The Faith seed of Abraham are we who have a firm belief in Jesus, we are true Israel! From the beginning of time until the Last Day!

In The Body Experience ...

Have you ever had an "in the body experience"?

Lets define the terms of "In The Body."
body - BOD'Y, n.
A person; a human being; sometimes alone;
Reality, as opposed to representation.
A shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ. Col.2
A collective; a number of individuals as faith believers, (the Church), the True Israel... Not a denomination... is called the body, of which each believer from Adam until the last one, is a member, and Jesus the head.
Rom.7 [4] Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
1Cor.10 [16] The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

He is the passover lamb without sin, who was slain for our sins... and ressurrected with a glorious new body thereby gaining the VICTORY over satan and death, walked and talked with men, rose to heaven in the clouds, is seated on His throne in the heavenly Temple, gave us His Holy spirit to dwell in us, if we Repent of our sins, and are baptised in Jesus name by full immersion in water and in the Holy Ghost, and believe He is returning soon in the clouds!... To know by practice or trial; to gain knowledge or skill by practice or by a series of observations.

Now concerning the physical body we have 5 senses which give us the major make-up of our experiences in the natural life, by which we grow to maturity, hopefully.
We hear, see, taste, smell and touch. We learn all about ourselves and others...
Then we speak of natural things ... Our bodies grow, choices are made, We come to understand by the experiences we've had... worldly wisdom and folly... we have failures and successes in all areas of life, we share, live and work in communities, etc...

But these same 5 senses are also used in and for our spiritual body ...
Living in the Ressurrection Life body... led by His Holy Spirit while we yet remain on earth...
Deut. 6 [4] Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:[5] And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Mark 12:[29] And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: [30] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. [31] And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

By the hearing of the words of Jesus.... We are also ...
Seeing with spiritual eyes, by faith in Jesus... when we read His words...

Romans 10 [17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We then learn to trust Jesus and to take Him at His words, His words fail not, All His promises are sure, from Genesis to Revelations...

Job.34 [3] For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
Pss.34 [8] O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Pss.119 [103] How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Heb.6 [4] For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come;1Pet.2 [3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

And with the tongue we taste His words we then speak what is become new in our spirits, hearts and minds... Instead of cursing we now are the people who bless God and people!!!

2Cor.2 [15] For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:[16] To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
[17] For we are not as [the] many [Bible reversions, wolves in sheeps clothing, mega churches, etc...] which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

Resulting in Confessing our faith in and giving our testimonies of Jesus, of all He has done, is doing and what He can do!!! Nothing is impossible for GOD!!!
Praying to God is likened to a sweet smell...

Rev.8 [4] And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

Romans 10 [8] But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
[14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Our Hands and feet, are the touch of God working through us, His body on earth, serving the Lord in actions toward all...
And Worshipping together with others of like minds in Spirit and in Truth... The body of Christ; Singing, praying, loving, and helping one another...

This is Jesus dwelling in us now, His Spiritual Kingdom on earth. He is with us as we go through trials and troubles, We are not alone!!!... He promises to always be with His children who are remaining in the faith until He returns on The Last Day, the end of the age, gathering us all together at once to His New Heavens and New Earth! Hallaluia! We will have Ressurrected bodies!
